Hess ready for Dover clash

Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler believes the FA Cup tie against Kent rivals Dover Athletic was `written in the stars.' The Gills manager was formerly in charge of Dover and the two teams meet at Priestfield Stadium next Saturday. The game itself would have been intriguing enough, but given Hessenthaler's decision to leave the Whites after three years and return to Gillingham there may be some bad blood.Hessenthaler told the Kent & Sussex Courier: "It's a shame the way it ended between them and me; there were a few things said by some people down there but I've got nothing but respect for the club, its fans, its manager and its chairman Jim Parmenter. I had three great years there."The move was soured still further by the fact Gillingham also took a lot of Dover's key backroom staff along with Hessenthaler, including Ian Hendon who had been appointed the new Whites' manager only three weeks earlier.Dover chairman Jim Parmenter has moved to quash any ideas of ill-feeling: "It's history. I had my say at the time and it's water under the bridge now. These things happen in football and we've moved on."
