Hess hails good advert for League Two
Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler admitted both sides were worthy of a point each following his side's 2-2 draw at Stevenage.Goals from Cody McDonald and Adebayo Akinfenwa had given the Gills a 2-1 lead following Byron Harrison's opener, but Harrison popped up with his second goal of the game after 75 minutes to earn his side a point.Hessenthaler said: "That was a really tough game for us. Stevenage have been going great guns at home this season, so our preparations had to be right for this one."We knew there would be periods when we might be under the cosh a bit, and that's how it was starting to look towards the end of the game. Having said that, we nearly nicked a goal ourselves right at the death."We may not have deserved to have gone on and taken the win but, overall, I'm pleased with the application and desire shown by all the players. It keeps our decent little run going - we just have to try and hang in there."The game was a good advert for the league, both teams try to play decent football and the momentum was swinging this way and then that. On reflection, a draw was probably a fair result."
