Hess urges patience

Boss Andy Hessenthaler urged Gillingham supporters to stick with his team after a 1-0 defeat to Lincoln left them with just two points from a possible nine. Gills were one of the promotion favourites in League Two at the start of the campaign but have yet to win this season. "I understand the frustrations of the fans, like me their expectations are high but we will lose games this season," said Hessenthaler. "It was a bad day at the office, every manager has been there were a few positives and quite a lot of negatives but Monday is another day and we have got to be positive." Hessenthaler thought Lincoln came to Priestfield to stifle his side, he added: "Teams will come here this season and play like that against us. They will use the fact that we are one of the favourites to go up to put pressure on us. "The goal could have been avoided but after that it was pretty much them sitting back and doing a very good job of frustrating us. I'm not criticising them, I would have done the same in their position and we tried to do it at Norwich in the Carling Cup."
