Hess: Forget about automatic promotion

Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler admitted automatic promotion may be beyond his side as they lost 4-2 at home to Barnet. Despite two Andy Barcham goals, the hosts were hit by an Izale McLeod hat-trick after Mark Byrne's opener. And Hessenthaler said he had no idea where the Gills' error-strewn performance came from. "Football is crazy. We have had two defeats in 26 and I have no idea where that performance came from," he said. "The game was far too stretched. Too many players were not at it, not good enough. "I think we have got to forget about automatic promotion and focus on getting into the play-offs still, which won't be easy."
