Hatters and Gills share bore draw

Published: 13 Mar 2010 - 18:11:26

The visitors rarely threatened and remain without an away league win all season. It was a dismal first half at Edgeley Park, but Stockport did start brightly with Paul Turnbull and Jabo Ibehre both firing narrowly wide early on. Gillingham responded with Simeon Jackson seeing a shot saved by Owain fon Williams and the tricky frontman saw a shot fly over the bar minutes later. Greg Tansey fired a 25-yard free-kick straight at Gillingham goalkeeper Alan Julian, while in first-half stoppage-time Gills' winger Adam Miller saw a firm drive deflected just wide by Matt Sadler. Shortly after the break Julian dived full length to brilliantly palm away Turnbull's glancing header, while Ibehre should have done better when he blazed over from 15 yards. The best late chance fell again to Turnbull, but his well-struck half-volley was beaten away by Julian.
