Carlisle United defender Josh Gowling has agreed to join League One rivals Gillingham on a one-month loan deal.
The 24-year-old will remain with the Gills for the first five games of the season up to and including the home game against Hartlepool United on August 22.
Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Weston has signed a two-year contract extension that will keep him at the Priestfield Stadium until June 2012.
Weston told the club's official website: "The security is important for me and obviously I enjoy playing here so much so it's brilliant for me to sign for that long.
"The fans have been really good to me since I've been here and that was a big part of my decision as well."
