Gowling banned for Grecians trip

Gowling was dismissed for two yellow cards in the fiery home defeat by Brentford on Boxing Day and will now begin a second suspension in a short space of time as he only returned from a two-game ban against the Bees.[LNB]Matt Fry missed Saturday's clash through a suspension of his own, but he is now available and the on-loan defender should come back into Mark Stimson's side.[LNB]Simon Joyce is a continued absentee after a recent car crash so the transfer-listed Alan Julian will continue in goal, while Simon King is a long-term absentee.[LNB]The loss on Saturday, which saw Stimson clash with Brentford counterpart Andy Scott at the full-time whistle, will be the source of some worry for the Gills boss as they can ill-afford to let their impressive home form slip, having such a dreadful run of form on the road, collecting just one point all season.[LNB]Meanwhile, Stimson insists his side have got to discover a ruthless streak after Ben Strevens ended their long unbeaten run at Priestfield.[LNB]The Gills had not been beaten on their own patch since August but, despite dominating proceedings, they went down to Strevens' 42nd-minute goal as Brentford ground out a 1-0 win.[LNB]Home defender Josh Gowling and Bees striker Charlie MacDonald both saw red after the break and Stimson was left to wonder what might have been.[LNB]"We are in the results business and if you get a good performance as well then it's doubly frustrating," said "We didn't get the result even though we had enough chances to win two or three games.[LNB]"We've come across a good goalkeeper and with better finishing we would have won comfortably, so it's frustrating. But I'll take that performance any day of the week. It was a joy to watch in the first half but when we went down to 10 men we couldn't create as much.[LNB]"Josh has gone to win the ball and MacDonald has just collided with him. I think there were a fair few other challenges that didn't get cautions, but Brentford got their reward."[LNB][LNB]
