Gills to lodge Bentley appeal

Gillingham boss Mark Stimson intends to appeal against midfielder Mark Bentley's red card in the 2-2 draw at Bradford City.

The Gills captain was dismissed for a 58th-minute two-footed tackle on the Bantams' Matt Clarke, but Stimson insists his captain should not have been ordered off the pitch.

He said: "We'll definitely be appealing. It was a great tackle. He won the ball.

"Stuart McCall has said that he'd back me. I think we've got to do it. He's a big player for us."
