Gills suffer defeat at Welling

The Gills had claimed wins against Folkestone, Dartford and Faversham as they warmed up for the new campaign but were undone by goals from Sanchez Ming and Jake Hobbs. After a goalless first half Gills boss Mark Stimson made nine changes at the interval but Ming's strike in the 65th minute coupled with Hobbs' goal five minutes from time gave Welling the win.
