Gills relieved after late win
Gillingham assistant boss Ian Hendon felt his side deserved the three points after they left it late to beat Cheltenham 2-1.The Robins were leading through Steve Elliott's first goal for the club until the 86th minute, when Cody McDonald headed Barry Fuller's cross against the bar and nodded the rebound into an empty net.And three minutes later McDonald completed a dramatic turnaround when he headed in Adebayo Akinfenwa's cross."My heart rate was raised slightly," admitted Hendon. "We started slowly and we got punished with their goal."We finished the first half strongly for the last 10 or 15 minutes and I have to say we came out in the second half and dominated from start to finish"If it wasn't for their goalkeeper we could have been six or seven. The substitutes went on an freshened it up and in the end it was a very pleasing performance."
