Gills pick up loanee Locke

Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has moved to ease his goalkeeping crisis by signing Reading youngster Simon Locke on an emergency loan arrangement.

The 18-year-old apprentice has yet to make a Championship appearance for the Royals but has been a regular in the club's FA Youth Academy squad.

He moves to the Priestfield Stadium on an initial one-month loan deal and will remain at the club until January 9.

Earlier in the week it was revealed that first-choice shot-stopper Simon Royce will be sidelined for a month.
