Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has revealed he has missed out on the capture of a loan striker after a late change of heart by the player.
Stimson thought he had landed the player before Saturday's 1-0 victory over Huddersfield Town only for the deal to fall through at the 11th hour.
"This striker I'm after is getting more and more frustrating by the day," he said.
"I thought we had one in the bag. Unfortunately, the player rung me back an hour after I thought I'd clinched the deal and told me that he was going somewhere else."
Meanwhile, Stimson has revealed that midfielder Barry Cogan has rejected the opportunity to join a Blue Square Premier side on loan.
