Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has decided to appeal against Mark McCammon's controversial red card in Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Aldershot Town.
The 30-year-old former Doncaster Rovers striker was dismissed for his 13th-minute challenge on Shots goalkeeper Nikki Bull.
Despite playing with ten men for 77 minutes, the Gills almost hung on for a point at the Recreation Ground only for Scott Davies to grab a winner for Gary Waddock's side with four minutes remaining.
Stimson told the club's official website: "I know Mark McCammon. I don't think there was any intent, it's just not in his game."
The Football Association will consider the appeal on Tuesday afternoon.
