Gills launch Miller appeal
14 Jan 2008 - 14:03:32
Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has decided to appeal against Adam Miller's dismissal in Saturday's 3-1 victory over Huddersfield Town after studying video evidence of the incident.
The midfielder saw red for a tackle on former Chelsea defender Frank Sinclair, but Stimson thought it was an innocuous challenge.
The Gills boss told the club's official website: "Scott Barrett, the chairman and I looked at it on Monday morning and it seems harsh.
"Adam's sole intent was to win the ball. He's not a malicious player and I think the reaction of the Huddersfield players told its own story.
"None of them ran across to the referee and they all seemed shocked by the decision, just like our players. I hope the referee now looks at the tape and decides to rescind it."
Meanwhile, Stuart Thurgood, John Nutter, Miller and Leroy Griffiths have all signed new contracts with the club, to Stimson's delight.
The former Grays Athletic and Stevenage Borough boss added: "I'm glad everything's now complete.
"I've a lot of faith in the four players that I've brought to the club. They all have bright futures and I'm glad that will be here at Gillingham."
