Gillingham have made an improved contract offer to winger Matt Jarvis in a last-ditch bid to keep him at Priestfield next season.
The 21-year-old is wanted by a number of clubs after an impressive campaign with the Gills, who want to persuade Jarvis to stay put.
Chairman Paul Scally told the Kent Messenger: "We've had a real good go at keeping him and we've made him a further improved offer.
"There's always hope. We've done as much as we can do as a club and it's now up to Matt."
Meanwhile, the Gills have been linked with a move for free agent Michael Higdon, following the striker's release by Crewe Alexandra.
Veteran goalkeeper Simon Royce is also being tipped for a Priestfield return after a loan stay at the end of last term.
