Gillingham expect to complete the signing of Simon Royce, but have rejected claims that the veteran keeper has already inked a one-year deal at the Priestfield.
The 35-year-old has been training with the Gills following his release by QPR at the end of last season, but has yet to put pen to paper on a contract with the League One club.
"It was reported that the 35-year-old had signed a year's deal with the club - but it is now understood that the signing has not yet been completed," read a club statement.
"Royce is currently training with the club with a view to signing permanently next month."
Royce made three appearances while on a month's loan at Gillingham last season.
