Gills captain hit by pneumonia

Gillingham captain Barry Fuller is in hospital after being struck down by a bout of pneumonia.

Fuller missed training on Monday because of the illness but has since been sent to hospital. The club are now waiting to see how serious the problem is.

"I spoke to Barry briefly this morning and he was struggling to speak, it is that bad," said manager Mark Stimson.

"I hear there are a number of different types of pneumonia and we're waiting to hear which one it is. Let's hope he recovers really soon.

"He'll be in there over the weekend and the early part of next week."
