Gillingham boss Mark Stimson says he will make several changes for the Carling Cup clash with Blackburn Rovers because of recent poor performances. The League One side will host the former Premier League champions in the second round at Priestfield on Tuesday. The 1-0 loss to Hartlepool on Saturday was the Gills' third defeat in a row. "Some of them probably won't start on Tuesday night because of that performance and that's how it's got to be," Stimson told BBC Radio Kent. He added: "There are other people waiting on the bench who are desperate to play. "I think unfortunately some of the players were probably thinking about the Blackburn game on Saturday. "But most of them know me and you're only as good as your last game." Stimson also confirmed that Simon Royce will start in goal on Tuesday night, instead of Alan Julian who started on Saturday. He said: "Simon would have played against Blackburn whatever happened and he knew that. "It's up to Simon to perform like we know he can and try to keep the shirt."
