The versatile 25-year-old signed a two-year deal with the Kent club after leaving Walsall and is looking forward to lining up for his new club.
He said: "I'd prefer to play on the wing but if I have to fill in at full-back, I can do that too.
"I like to get crosses into the box, set up goals for people and take set pieces but I'll play whatever role the manager sees me best at.
"I spoke the manager and that - combined with the success of last season - meant it seemed like like the right thing to do.
"The security on offer and the ambition of the club meant that Gillingham were the better option."
