Gills boss `absolutely delighted`

Andy Hessenthaler was a happy man after watching his Gillingham side secure their first victory of the season with a 2-0 triumph over leaders Shrewsbury. Chris Palmer struck twice either side of the break, while Adebayo Akinfenwa also missed a penalty, as the Gills inflicted Town`s first defeat of their league campaign. "I am absolutely delighted," said Hessenthaler. "It is all about getting that first win under your belt and there is a lot of belief in our dressing room. If we keep performing the way we have been we will be fine. "We spoke about tempo and making this place a fortress and we got the attitude spot on. I am really pleased with how hard the players have worked this week. "It is far too early to start talking about league tables but we have to keep this momentum going. We were a bit wounded after the first few results and the players sorted that here. "We are getting injured players back and suddenly we have options and that can only bode well."
