Gillingham hit with charge by FA

The game - a 1-1 draw - was marred by a melee late on which saw Brentford striker Nathan Elder sent off and Gills centre-back Garry Richards later hit with a three-match ban after allegations of a headbutt in the same incident.[LNB]And the two clubs have now been charged with failing to control their players, a charge which the Gills have denied.[LNB]Boss Mark Stimson said: "It's very harsh. I think the decision at the time when Garry got suspended was a crazy one. Apart from maybe one or two, we haven't got players who put themselves about. We've got a footballing team so for the referee, or whoever, to say we couldn't keep our players under control is harsh.[LNB]"You've got to be sensible and controlled with your aggression and I think that shows in the sendings off and the bookings - I don't think we're in the top half of those.[LNB]"At the time, after watching it, there was only one person who should have got punished and he did. We'll get on with it, hopefully it won't affect us and we'll look forward to the remainder of the season."[LNB][LNB]
