Dack keeps Gills on track

Bradley Dack's deflected volley clinched Gillingham back-to-back home league victories for the first time since March as they overcame Oldham 3-2.

On-loan Gills striker John Marquis put the hosts in front with a low seventh-minute shot after being played through by Cody McDonald.

Marquis then took advantage of a mistake by Latics defender James Wilson to double the home side's advantage with an acute finish.

But Oldham captain Liam Kelly hauled his side back into the game. Oldham defender Connor Brown was bundled over in the area and although Danny Philliskirk saw his penalty parried by Gillingham goalkeeper Stuart Nelson, Kelly followed up to force home the rebound.

The visitors equalised in the 23rd minute when Dominic Poleon dispossessed Nelson on the edge of the area and slotted into an empty net for his first league goal since October 2013.

Nelson made amends with a brilliant save to deny Mike Jones from 10 yards and McDonald cleared Amari Morgan-Smith's header off the goal-line, before Dack's deflected effort looped over Latics goalkeeper Paul Rachubka to earn the Gills maximum points.
