McGlashan glides in for Gills

Jermaine McGlashan's late goal made sure Gillingham recorded their second win in six games as their second-half comeback condemned Coventry to a 3-1 defeat.

The deadlock was broken when Coventry midfielder Danny Swanson's run from the right flank was halted clumsily in the 34th minute by Josh Pritchard and Gary Madine sent home goalkeeper Stuart Nelson the wrong way from the resulting penalty.

Gillingham have now failed to keep a clean sheet in their last eight home games and Coventry looked most likely to add to their score in the second half.

But Gills' debutant John Marquis found the net in the 82nd minute as Bradley Dack's close-range shot was fumbled by Coventry goalkeeper Ryan Allsop, leaving the striker, on loan from Millwall, to tap in the equaliser.

Former Sky Blue Cody McDonald then smashed his penalty into the top corner of Allsop's goal after Ryan Haynes had brought down Gills' substitute McGlashan.

McGlashan was on hand to make sure of the victory for the Gills, despite Coventry being the better side for large parts, as his pace again took him clear and allowed him to fire across Allsop into the top corner in the fourth minute of time added on.
