Gillingham play out stalemate with Coventry

Promotion-chasing Gillingham remain fourth in the Sky Bet League One table after being held to a 0-0 draw by Coventry.

In a dour encounter, the closest either side came to a goal was a second-half Jacob Murphy shot that hit the post for the Sky Blues.

Gillingham made a bright start to proceedings and Luke Norris almost fed his strike partner Dominic Samuel with a cutback only for the latter to slip at the vital moment.

That proved to be the striker's final action of the match as he limped off minutes later clutching his thigh.

Aaron Morris hit a volley high and wide minutes before the break that summed up a drab first 45 minutes.

The start of the second half fared little better but on 69 minutes Stuart Nelson was required to break sweat when Gael Bigirimana's curling shot from 20 yards came within a whisker of the post.

And the post came to Gillingham's rescue when Murphy let fly from 25 yards as neither side could find a winner.
