Duo set to boost Hess
Josh Gowling and Simon King could return to contention to give Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler defensive options ahead of the clash with fellow play-off hopefuls Southend.
Gowling and King will face late fitness tests on their ankle injuries, but, even if they are passed fit, are unlikely to replace Matt Lawrence and Garry Richards.
Midfielders Luke Rooney and Joe Miller are pushing for starts but striker Dennis Oli looks set to be on the bench again due to the form of Cody McDonald and Adebayo Akinfenwa.
Danny Spiller remains sidelined with a fractured finger, although he could be back within two weeks.
Midfielder Chris Palmer is closing in on a return from the knee injury that has sidelined him since November.
