Gillingham midfielder Andrew Crofts celebrated signing a new contract in style as he netted the winning goal in the 1-0 victory against Plymouth Argyle.

The 20-year-old has been rewarded for breaking into the first team with a deal running until the summer of 2009 and Gills boss Stan Ternent is confident that the youngster will get better and better.

He told the club's official website: "It was a really good goal and it is a day that he will not forget.

"He signed a new four-year deal, he had a fantastic game and he finished by grabbing the all-important goal. All in all, it has been a smashing day for him.

"He will improve as he gets older, stronger and more experienced, and that comes with playing."
