Changes were justified - Hessenthaler

Boss Andy Hessenthaler felt his decision to make seven changes to his starting line-up was justified as Gillingham claimed a 1-0 win at Rotherham. The Gills manager re-jigged his side following the shock home defeat to Barnet and it paid dividends as Andy Barcham`s solitary strike saw them leapfrog Torquay into seventh spot. Hessenthaler said: "I would have been disappointed if we hadn't come away with all three points. I think some of the players were surprised by the changes, but that's the way we do it and we have come out with a fantastic result. "The boys worked their socks off. Against Barnet we just weren't at it. I changed it around and made a few changes, but I'm the manager and I have to make those decisions. "I think it would have been an injustice if we had come away without all three points. Over the 90 minutes we created the better chances. "On another day Cody McDonald could have had two or three and their keeper made some good saves, but at the end of the day we are delighted with the three points because it was a good team effort."
