Capitulation stuns Jepson
26 Mar 2007 - 11:45:46
Furious Gillingham boss Ronnie Jepson blasted his side's dismal showing in the 5-0 defeat at Carlisle United, particularly the last nine minutes when they conceded four goals.
Mark Bentley's 73rd-minute dismissal did not help the Gills' cause, but Jepson refused to use his side's numerical disadvantage as an excuse for their capitulation.
"Our supporters have come here after six-and-a-half or seven hours on a coach and they deserve better than that," he blasted. "How we collapsed was poor.
"We have to defend better, we have to have the desire to stop crosses and to stop things coming in to our box, and to get our heads on things, and we didn't do that enough.
"I want to see a better show than that, especially the last ten or 15 minutes."
