Oli denies Rovers

Dennis Oli's late header secured a 2-2 draw for Gillingham at Bristol Rovers.

The Kent side were heading for defeat after Mustapha Carayol fired Rovers ahead with just nine minutes left.

But substitute Oli latched on to a long clearance from goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga in the final minute and headed over stranded home keeper Scott Bevan.

Gills' striker Danny Kedwell saw his weak penalty saved by Bevan in the first half, with Bevan also denying Rowan Vine from the rebound. But the visitors went ahead in the 56th minute, with Kedwell setting up Chris Whelpdale to blast past Bevan from the edge of the penalty area.

Gillingham were only ahead for three minutes, as Rovers midfielder Matt Gill crossed to the back post for Elliot Richards to head past Gazzaniga.

The home side then took the lead with nine minutes left when Matt Harrold sent Carayol sprinting clear of the Gills' defence to sweep a low shot past Gazzaniga, only for Oli to grab his late leveller.
