Boss plays down Blackett interest

Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has distanced himself from a summer move for Peterborough defender Shane Blackett. Posh director of football Barry Fry revealed earlier in the week that the Gills had made an enquiry for the 26-year-old, but Stimson admits a transfer fee being asked for is likely to curtail any deal. Blackett can play either left-back or at centre-back, but Stimson admits the presence of Simon King - who fills the left-sided centre-back role - does not make Blackett a priority. "A list came round from Peterborough and there were about 12 names on it," he told KentNews. "There were one or two I enquired about but they want transfer fees and unfortunately I don't know if we're able to get involved in that. "He (Blackett) was a name I mentioned, I've known the kid a long while, but we've got a fantastic left centre-half already so there would be no reason to look at another one."
