Ankle injury ends Vernon's Gills deal

The striker had only been at Priestfield Stadium for a week after signing on a month's loan from Colchester. However, Vernon was stretchered off towards the end of the first half on his debut at MK Dons at the weekend. And tests have revealed the 25-year-old is likely to be out for six weeks with damaged ankle ligaments.
