Ainsworth adds to Gills woes

Gareth Ainsworth's first-half strike helped Wycombe extend their unbeaten away record with a comfortable 2-0 win against struggling Gillingham. The hosts created more chances but were made to pay for some poor defending which was capitalised on by Ainsworth and midfielder Kevin Betsy. Gillingham nearly took the lead after five minutes when Chris Westwood turned Chris Palmer's cross onto his own post. But they were caught out on 23 minutes when Stuart Beavon, who had already twice got behind the Gills defence, was once again given too much time to lay a pass off for Ainsworth to drill home. Home strikers Bayo Akinfenwa and Cody McDonald both went close with shots, but, on the stroke of half-time, Beavon missed a chance to double the lead. Betsy did make it two early in the second half, though, as he capitalised on Barry Fuller's bad misjudgement to fire in from the edge of the area.
