An own goal from Adam Lang and a second-half effort from Thomas Muller saw a dominant Germany side defeat Hungary 2-0 at Schalke's Veltins-Arena home on Saturday.
Mario Gotze went to meet Jonas Hector's low delivery from the left but the ball r icocheted off Lang and inside the near post to give Germany a 39th-minute lead.

Joachim Low's world champions got off to a bright start but Julian Draxler was caught offside in their first real attack of the match in the opening exchanges before he fired a close-range overhead kick into the stands after nine minutes.
The hosts came close to opening the scoring moments after Adam Pinter headed over the crossbar at the other end, as Muller drilled the ball towards goal from 25 yards, forcing Hungary goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly to tip his shot around the post.
Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil took the resulting corner but Antonio Rudiger flicked his header over as the home side continued to press.
Germany stopper Manuel Neuer resisted a powerful shot from captain Balazs Dzsudzsak, while Laszlo Kleinheisler fired wide midway through the first half as Bernd Storck's Group F challengers tried to break the deadlock.
But it was the hosts that claimed the opener six minutes before the break as Hector played a low pass in towards Gotze, and Lang inadvertently put it past Kiraly.
Schalke defender Benedikt Howedes sent the ball sailing over the bar on the stroke of half-time as Germany searched for a second at his home ground.
Low brought on Mario Gomez and Emre Can for Sami Khedira and Hector respectively at the start of the second 45 minutes and they came close through Howedes seven minutes in, but his header was comfortably collected by Kiraly.
Down at the other end, Jerome Boateng blocked an effort from Werder Bremen midfielder Kleinheisler as the visitors attempted to bag an equaliser.
But Germany doubled their lead with their best chance of the second half just after the hour mark when Muller fired home from close range after Gomez's header rebounded to him following a brilliant save from Kiraly in the away goal.
For Muller, it was his 32nd international strike.
Moments later, Hungary veteran Zoltan Gera almost made an impact after being on the field for just over five minutes.
The 37-year-old former West Brom and Fulham midfielder, who withdrew from the recent training camp in Austria to undergo tests, came close to reducing the deficit but his shot from the left of the 18-yard box floated past the upright as the visitors head to their Euro 2016 opener with Austria on the back of a defeat.
