Germany star Bastian Schweinsteiger looks set to face Portugal in his country's opening Euro 2012 game on June 9 after coach Joachim Loew confirmed he has recovered from his calf strain.

"Bastian has been pain-free since Wednesday," Loew told German television after the win over Israel with Germany to face Portugal in Lviv, Ukraine.

"Now he has to start to run and he will train with the team again by Tuesday at the latest."

Schweinsteiger picked up the injury in Bayern Munich's Champions League final defeat to Chelsea a fortnight ago and the 27-year-old sat out Germany's 2-0 win over Israel in a Euro 2012 warm-up match on Thursday.
