Muller leads young player voting

Germany attacking midfielder Thomas Muller is the favourite to be named the young player of the World Cup following the unveiling of a three-man short-list in South Africa.

Muller has been joined on the list by Mexico forward Giovani dos Santos and Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew.

However, the 20-year-old Bayern Munich starlet is the favourite to win the accolade after his goalscoring exploits during the tournament.

Muller, who missed Wednesday's semi-final defeat to Spain through suspension, has scored four goals, including a brace as Germany thrashed England 4-1 in the round of 16.

The winner of the award will be revealed following Sunday's final between Spain and Netherlands in Johannesburg.
