Klose focused on Germany
25 Jun 2006 - 15:18:10
Germany striker Miroslav Klose says he is fully focused on trying to secure World Cup glory on home soil and not on the prospect of a possible move away from Werder Bremen.
The 28-year-old has netted four goals for the hosts in their march to the quarter-finals, raising rumours of interest from a number of the Premiership's big guns for his services.
However, Klose says he is solely focused on Germany, commenting: "I'm not playing at the World Cup to try and sell myself.
"I have a contract for two more years with Werder Bremen, but I have already said in the past that my objective is to play elsewhere.
"But my objective now is to play a good World Cup and I will think about that later."
Germany coach Jurgen Klinsmann believes that Klose can prove himself one of the tournament's top strikers, having struggled in the European Championships two years ago.
He added: "Miroslav, after his great World Cup four years ago, struggled with injuries and moved to Werder Bremen, where he found a coach who has, step-by-step built him up to be an international level player.
"He has reached a place right now where he is showing his complete game.
"He works defensively very hard and does the right thing in attack and gives assists the way he would like to receive them so he could finish them off."
