Injured Lasogga misses Germany friendly

Hamburg striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga has missed his chance to win his first cap for Germany after a thigh injury ruled him out of Wednesday's friendly against Chile.

The 22-year-old was injured in Tuesday's final training session, leaving veteran Miroslav Klose as the only striker available to coach Joachim Loew.

"Lasogga is injured and misses out, we'll have to see if he is fit for the weekend," said Germany team manager Oliver Bierhoff, with Hamburg hosting Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.

Lasogga's injury means 35-year-old Klose should make his first international appearance since September, when he equalled Gerd Mueller's record of 68 goals for Germany.

Lazio's Klose has been hampered by foot and shoulder injuries and sat out the Italian team's league match on Sunday with an abdominal muscle injury.

But having been treated intensely by Germany's medical staff, Klose took part in Tuesday's training session and is expected to win his 131st cap for Germany.

Lasogga is the second player to drop out of the Germany squad for the game in Stuttgart after Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender withdrew with a leg injury.
