Germany hoping to have Klitschkos in their corner

Germany's footballers could have world champion boxers Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko in their corner next year to help with motivation in preparation for next June's Euro 2012 tournament.

Germany hammered the Netherlands 3-0 in Hamburg on Tuesday in a friendly and team manager Oliver Bierhoff said he has already approached the Ukraine-born world heavyweight champion brothers to talk to the team about Ukrainian life.

Germany will hold training camps in Sardinia and the south of France next May before Euro 2012, hosted by the Ukraine and Poland, begins on June 8 and Bierhoff is hoping one or both of the boxers can speak to the players.

"I've had contact with their manager, Bernd Boente, and I hope it works out," he told German sports magazine Sport-Bild.

Bierhoff also said he is considering approaching Germany's two-time Formula One champion Sebastian Vettel to speak to the team.

"We are thinking of inviting Sebastian Vettel as an interesting guest, so he can share his experiences from his double world title victories," said Bierhoff.

Before last year's World Cup in South Africa, Bierhoff and Germany coach Joachim Loew brought in Italian mountaineer Reinhold Messner and New Zealand rugby legend Johan Lomu to talk to the players about motivation.
