The German football federation (DFB) rejected media claims on Friday that the friendly match against Poland in Gdansk on Tuesday was being called off for safety reasons.

"The friendly against Poland will go ahead for sure," said Wolfgang Niersbach, secretary general of the DFB at Gelsenkirchen, where the Germans face Austria in a Euro 2012 qualifier on Friday.

According to German newspaper Bild, Polish media were indicating that the fire service had demanded a full fire test at the stadium, following reports of faulty functioning of smoke detectors.

The match is intended to be the official inauguration of the Gdansk stadium, which was finished in July at a total cost of 160 million euros and will be used at Euro 2012 which Poland is co-hosting with Ukraine.
