Germans step up training

The German squad is set to increase their workload as the preparations for next month's tournament intensify.

Coach Jurgen Klinsmann is working the squad hard as they step up their training levels in Geneva.

"It will be an extremely hard time for the players", he said.

Team manager Oliver Bierhoff added: "They will have to switch the lever now."

Several players are currently struggling to regain full fitness following injuries while Werder Bremen midfielder Tim Borowski and Wolfsburg striker Mike Hanke have flu.

Borussia Dortmund players Christoph Metzelder (calf) and Sebastian Kehl (ankle) are still recovering while Bayern Munich's Philipp Lahm (elbow) is only in light training.
