Germany's 6-2 victory over Austria on September 2nd has confirmed their position as winners of Group A and thus secured the qualification for the three times winners. The race for the runners-up position is now a straight fight between Belgium and Turkey following Austria's failure to win at home to Turkey in Tuesday night.
With two games left to play Turkey remain hot favourites for the coveted play-off spot. The Turks have two home games left and despite the first of those being against Germany, victory against Azerbeijan on October 11th will leave Belgium needing to win both their remaining matches (including away against Germany) to remain in contention.
