Calf woe for Metzelder

Borussia Dortmund defender Christoph Metzelder could be a doubt for this summer's World Cup finals after tearing a muscle in his right calf.

The 25-year-old, who played in the World Cup Final defeat to Brazil four years ago, will miss Saturday's final Bundesliga game of the season at Bayern Munich.

Germany boss Jurgen Klinsmann will announce his 23-man World Cup squad on Monday but may omit Metzelder who has struggled with a series of injuries since the 2002 World Cup.

Klinsmann takes his squad to Sardinia next Tuesday as he steps up his preparations for next month's tournament.
