Andreas Beck believes his exclusion from the Germany team will help accelerate his development as a person and a footballer, although he admits the disappointment has not yet really sunk in.
Beck was announced on Tuesday as the final player that coach Joachim Low had discarded from his preliminary squad to meet the requirements of submitting a 23-man selection to FIFA.
He said: "Despite the disappointment, I am thankful to have been a part of these days together. I am now looking forward to my holidays and then next season."
He added: "I would really have loved to have been at the World Cup and I am disappointed, but of course I accept the coach's decision."
