Germany midfielder Sami Khedira could still feature at June's World Cup after his Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti revealed he is recovering well from a knee injury suffered in November.

"The rehabilitation has gone very well and he has started running," said Ancelotti.

"If all goes well, I think he can return to Madrid in the next 15 to 20 days and he can start to work with the group. We hope that he can be back playing before the end of the season."

Khedira injured his cruciate knee ligament in Germany's 1-1 draw with Italy in mid-November but head coach Joachim Loew said he hopes to have him in the squad for Brazil.

Germany open their Brazil 2014 World Cup campaign against Portugal in Salvador on June 16.
