Name: Mario Gomez
Club: Bayern Munich
International caps: 32
International goals: 11
Born in July 1985 in the small German village of Unlingen, Mario Gomez played youth football for his local sides before signing for Bundesliga club Stuttgart in 2001.
After 121 first-team appearances and 63 goals, he moved to German giants Bayern Munich for a reported fee of £25 million – the highest ever spent in the Bundesliga.
With 10 goals in 20 starts this season, Mario looks to be in good form heading into the World Cup, where he could partner his club team-mate Miroslav Klose in attack.
