Acquafresca on the verge of move

Genoa have confirmed striker Robert Acquafresca is on the verge of joining Serie A rivals Lazio.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a loan spell at Atalanta last term and Genoa president Enrico Preziosi has said the deal is almost complete.

He said: "We reached an agreement with Lazio for Acquafresca and I had no doubt that everything would be fine.

"To us Robert can move to Rome, and now lacks only the agreement between Lazio and the player."

Meanwhile, Acquafresca has ruled out a return to former club Cagliari while insisting he would have no problem joining the Rome-based outfit.

"I was also told that my intention would be to return to Cagliari because my girlfriend lives there, but it is not true: where I go, she goes," he said.

"I would have no problem playing with Lazio, but I'm still awaiting news."
