Cheryl Cole began dating England and Chelsea footballer Ashley Cole in 2004, and reportedly announced their engagement after he proposed in Dubai in 2005. Following tabloid reports of marital issues and allegations of Ashleys infidelity with more than 5 women, news broke that Cole had annoynced her seperation from the football star in late February 2010. To date Cole is a perceived as a national treasure and fashion icon with Simon Cowell stating 'She must be the most popular person on TV'. However Cole hasnt always been so famous, initially rising to fame in 2002 after becoming member of British pop group Girls Aloud, through ITV's reality show Popstars: The Rivals. As well as queen of the TV screen, Cole has been hailed as a style icon, appearing on the covers of British Vogue and Elle amongst other various publications. Aswell as her appearances, Style Network voted her 'best dressed woman of the year' and 'Style icon of the decade' with FHM naming her 'Sexiest Woman in the World'in their 2009 sexiest Women poll. The same year it was announced Cole was to become the face of L'Oreal.
