Galatasaray SK, who are currently over in England to take part in the Emirates Cup played their first friendly last Saturday against Shrewsbury Town, in what was a prestigious match for the Salop’s. The match finished in a comfortable 3-0 win for Galatasaray with Emre Colak opening the scoring with a long range shot to delight the travelling army of fans.
Noureddine Amrabat got the second in the first half before Wesley Sneijder scored near the end to give Galatasaray a perfect start to their English pre-season campaign.

Galatasaray will be hoping that this season they can continue the excellent progress they made from last year but they will need to keep hold of their best players to do this. By playing over in England the prospect of players such as Didier Drogba and Burak Yilmaz being ‘tapped up’ by Premiership teams will be a real problem for the Lions of Istanbul.
Anyone hoping to catch a glimpse of Galatasaray in the UK can still get tickets for their maiden appearance in the Emirates Cup, which is being hosted by Arsenal Football Club and also involves Porto and Napoli. Tickets can be purchased direct from the official Arsenal website.
