Co-hosts Gabon outplayed Niger 2-0 Monday in the opening Group C match at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.
Pierre Emerick Aubameyang nodded the Panthers in front on the half-hour mark and Stephane Nguema poked in a rebound just before half-time.
