Zamora faces five-month lay-off
16 Sep 2010 - 15:00:39
Fulham boss Mark Hughes has confirmed that Bobby Zamora will not return to first-team action until February.
The 29-year-old England international striker underwent surgery on Sunday to correct the broken fibula he picked up in the 2-1 win against Wolves.
However, when the operation was taking place, additional ankle ligament damage was discovered, lengthening the time Zamora will spend on the sidelines. It was initially thought he would be looking at a three-month lay-off.
Hughes said: "Bobby's had his operation. He will now be in bed with his leg elevated for two weeks. The operation showed ligament damage so we're probably now looking at five months.
"We want to help Bobby get back quickly and there are no concerns over his ability to get back to the level he was before he got injured."
